Our Backstory

for willy

When my dog Willy was two years old, he was poisoned by fertilizer in our garden. Willy was nursed back to health after two weeks with pancreatitis, and his hardship opened my eyes to the danger of chemical fertilizer in food growth. At the time, my company had saved a million pounds of recycling, but our clients were struggling with food waste. I saw these challenges as one mission, and Hop was founded to solve the chemical growth and waste of food.

Our Operation

We set out to solve the chemical growth and waste of food.

Hop’s patented technology automates the composting process, modernizing an ancient method. We use our technology to create the first inner-city compost facilities in Canada, which cut up to 85% of waste hauling trips. Efficiency makes waste diversion accessible. Our technology uses the waste we collect, and with tweaks every minute, it crafts a record-setting compost. All together, Hop enables more food waste to be saved table-to-farm, and more organic food to be grown farm-to-table.
